About the virtual chanter
Explore Scottish smallpipe fingering, hear notes with drones, or try your own tune. The sound is synthesised from instrument recordings; a real performance will have its own character.
Repeated notes receive automatic gracenotes. Notes outside the chanter’s range appear in red and remain silent. Pipe pitch identifies the instrument; playing in another key does not change that pitch.
No microphone or login is needed to explore tunes. Make video asks for camera and microphone permission only if you choose to record yourself playing along. Pasted tunes remain private to this browser; connected owners can choose Save tune to keep one in My Lindstruments.
Will it fit my pipes?
A split stock has two separable parts: one stays with the bag, while the other comes away with the chanter. On the Lindsay arrangement, normal separation leaves the reed enclosed.
Measure the inside diameter of the receiving stock that stays with the bag, using the callipers’ internal measuring jaws.
The photograph shows where to measure—not a diameter that every set must match. If unsure, ask which part to measure before dismantling anything.
